MRS. CHRISTINA TWIST

Death on Tuesday claimed one of the most esfeemed residents df the Taradale district in the person of Mrs. Christina Twist, widow of the late Mr. Chayles Edward Twist, one of Hawke's Bay's bast-known stock buyers and racing«men. . The late Mrs. Twist, formerly Miss Christina McDonald, was born' in Dunedin, and was married to her husband at Oriental Bay, Wellington, in 1901, but*shortly afterwards removed to Hawke's Bay with her husband, and had resided at Taradale almost ever since. A wiman of varied interests and exceeding kindliness, : the late Mrs. Twist took a deep interest in all that affected the welfare of the district in which she lived. In addition to taking an interest in her husband 's ehief hobbies, hunting and racing, she was herself an ardent horticulturist, a splendid cook, and an outstandingly successful exhibitor in both the cookery and horticultural sections -of many agricultural and other shows, and won a large number of trophies in these forms pf eompetition. Mrs. Twist had acted as judge t>f cookery classes, too, at a large number of shows. She was a devoted worker for church and social purposes, being ^ a prominent member of.the Pxesbyterian Church, Taradale, and of various horticultural societies. 0 The late- Mrs. Twist had been ailing for some time, and her death f ollowed closely upon that of her husband, who died at the end of July.. The deceased lady leaves one daughter, Miss Grace Twist, to whom-^ the , deep sympathy of a very wide circle of friends will be extended. The late Mrs. Twist also" leaves a sister, who -resides in Otago. - The funeral "will leave her late residence, Main Eoad, Taradale, to-morrow (Friday) at 11 a.m. for interment at Park lsland Cemetery.
