Hospital Boards' Speculation

DANNEVIRKE, Last Night. The quostion of what tho position of hospital boards would be under the forthcomiug national health scheme was raised at tho meeting of the Dannevirke Hospital Board to-day by Mr. E. Harding. "No-ono kno'ws what the Government is going to do," said the chairman, Mr, L. Stein. There has been a great deal of speculation all over the country, but it was not yet possible to get derinito information. As far as he could understand, the provisions of the Act would not be aetrimeutal to hospital boards, Mr. Stem added. He did not at present know whether all the hospitals in Now Zealand would be brought into the scheme or not. The Act would como before Parliament, and he presumed that circuiars explaining tho provisions would be sent out before thon. Mr. P. C. Smith: Have you any indication of what fees boards will be allowed if they are requirod to tako patients under the scheme! Mr. Stein: I cannot tell you.
