Match at Waipukurau WIN FOR PALMERSTON

WAIPUKURAU, Oct. 13. Members of the staifs of the Public Trust Offices at Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, Hastings and Napier took part in their annual tournament at the Marakeke goif links, Waipukurau, during ,the week-end. The links were in wonderful playing order and the weather all that could be desired. Chief interest was centred in the F. W. Browns challenge cup, to be won by . the branch office retuming the lowest aggregate score over Ltwo rounds. An additional major prize was a, special trophy donated by the Waipukurau office for the best net aggregate. Prize-winners were as f ollows : — P. W. Browne cup: Palmerston North, net score 119. Waipukurau special trophy; K. McManus, 119.

Putting competition; B. P. Hopkms. In inatok play, North obtdified 11 wins to six Wins by South, At the concltisioh of plfiy, Mr. P. Wi Browne (Napier), on bfehalf of the visitors, Called dn the prdsident (Mr. A. M. Johnstone) to kcdept presentation of a cup donated by the Public Trust players for annual competition amongst members of the Waipukurati Golf Club. Mr. Johnstone suitably responded and, in thanking Mr. BfoWiie and associates, stated that the cup would be the subject of keeu and enjoyable compotition fOr years to come. Tho cup will be known aS "The P.T. Gup and is for annual four-ball compjtitioa— match play on handicap.
