Telegraph —
AUCKLAND, Last Night. A discussion took place in, the Auckland Presbytery to-night on the increased drinking in the community, which was defiuitely attributed by some to the reeent legislation. The Rev. W. Bower Black said the increased drinking was proving a very real and poignant social problem and leading to widespread breaches of the licensing laws. The Rev. R. f. Fish said he had had more men under the influence of liquor coming to his mission this year than at any time in the past The Presbytery met in private to discuss further the situation and eventually the Public Questions Committet was asked to investigate the position and report.
