Young Man's Phone Conversation SEQUEL IN COURT

AUCKLAND, Last Night.. 1- A telephone call from the railway Btation slot on Saturday evening cost Francis Bernard O'Kane, aged 22, £10. He used indecent language to a young woman at the other end and asked her to meet him outside the Epsom Post Office, She agreed, but when she kept the appointment she was accompanied by tWo detectives. O'Kane admitted fiaving used the language, which be described as the result of drink. He pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-day. "Did he know the young woman?" asked the Magistrate, Mr Wyvern Wi.lson. Detective-Sergeant McHugh : No, sir. He just picked out a number from the telephone book. Tbis is quite a common aceufrence with some people — ritiging up and using filthy language. Such oifences are very difficult to dotect. O'Kane expressed regret to the Court, but when he asked for time to pay the fine the Magistrate replied : "You'll get your liberty when you pay the £10."
