Hastings and Napier Institutions An incrcase in the number of patients in the Hastings Memorial Hospital at the end of last month, and a deerease in tho numbers for tho Napier Public Hospital, are disclosed" in a comparison with the figures for the previous month' in the report to the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board thisafternoon of the medical superintendent, Dr. J. J. Foley. At the end of August there wero 49 patients at Hastings, and 188 ut Napier j the figures at tho end of September wero 52 and 174 respectively. Four deaths occurred at each institution, Hastings discharging 94 patients during tho month under review, and Napier 194. /At Hastings, 17 major and 04 minor operations were pcrformed, and at Napier 33 major and 100 minor. The outpatlents ' department at Hastings treated 160 patients during 438 visits during the month, and at Napier 257 patients on 893 visits. At the Memorial Hospital, 17 babies were born during the month, and at tlie MeHardy Home, Napier, there were 11.
