(Received 11, 8.45 a.m.) TOKIO, Oct. 9. The Italian Ambassador called on the Foreign Minister, Mr Hirot, to-day to ask that the Japanese nation be informed that Italy was united behind Signor Mussolini and would support to the full Japan 's action in China, which was simply to exercise the right of self-defence. The newspaper Asahi Shimbun features a telephone eonversation with its correspondent in Rome,- who states that Italy will afford Japan military aid if the hostilities in China develop into a war against Commuhism. Herr Hitler is also prepared to support her to the extent of sacrificing German rights in China..A message from Rome says that official oircles deny that Italy has promised Japan militar^ support.
