POST AND TELEGRAPH HOLD STAFF DANCE AT WAIPUKURAU

St. Mary's Hall, Waipukurau, was decorated with pale and deep orange streamers and bunches of greenery foi the annual staff dance of the Post and Telegraph Department, which was held on Friday evening, and at which the staffs of five post offices were represented. The dance was organised by the staffs of the Waipukurau and Waipawa post offices, and many members of the Takapau, Otane and Porangahau post offices were present also. . Music for the dancing was played by Messrs R. Neil (piano-accordeon), S. Davies (saxophone), S. Bryce (banjo), T. Walker (trombone), and I. Purcell (accordeon), with piano extras by Messrs G. Hunter and S. Bryce. Streamers and novelfcy numbers added to the enjoyment of dancefs. The statue waltz wasr won by Miss McSporran and Mr H. McQuade, of Takapau, and the winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss S. Burgess and Mrs T. Morton. . After supper had been served, the foilowing short concert programme was presented: "Under the Double Eagle," a mareh, played by Mr Neil on his piano-accordeon; Mr C. W. Browne, accompanied by Mrs Browne, "The Floral Danee," and for an encore a humorous story, "Ah Chong"; mysterious novelty act, performed with appropriate lighting effects, by Messrs A. Purcell, A. Dunlop and C. Price. Mr S. Bryce entertained . with two songs, sung to his own banjo accompaniment, "Let Yourself Go," and. "Rainbow on the River."
