WAIPAWA WOMAN'S INSTITUTES BIRTHDAY

The twelfth birthday of the Waipawa Women's Institute was held in the Municipal Concert Hall. Miss D; Jull presiding. Greetings wore received from the Hatuma, Wallingford, Otane and Wakarara institutes and visitors were present from Otane, Ashley Clinton, Waipukurau, Tikokino, Omakere and Wakarara. The prize-winners at the recent flowcr show were presented with their trophies. The sale of parcels for the S.P.C.A. brought in 10/6. A musical programme was presented, opening with a community sing conducted by Mrs Strang. Item® werq also presented by Mrs Walker (recitations), Mrs Strang (songs), Jean Nittow (recitations), Barbara Towers and Harry Hutchings (vocal dyots), and dancing numbers by Jean Kittow, Barbara Towers, Pauline Pollow and Helen Edwards. The two birthday qakeg were made by Mrs Towers and Mrs Grenside and iced by Mrs Kittow and Mrs Harris. The cake was cut by oue of tho oldqst members of tho Waipukurau institute, Mrs Arthur. Oue of Ihe cakes not hnviug been cut, it was decided to etart a cpmpetition with .this as a prize. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses bemg Mesdames Watson, Spicer, Bryant, and Towera and Miss Carson.
