"ATTER THE THIN MAN.'» "After the Thin Man," starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, which opened at the Regent Theatre to-day, is a sensatioual sequel to "The Thin Man, ' ' produced by Metro-Goldwytt-Mayer in response to remarkable public demand for another niystery by Dashiell Hammett. Powell and Miss Loy are said to excel their stallar perforniances in the original and the story ia even more intriguing. A iirst-rate suppOrting cast includes James Stewart, Elissa Landi, Joseph Calleia, Jessie Ralph and Asta, the smart little wire-haired terrier that played such a clever role in "Tho Thin Man." The picture was directed by W. S. Van Byke, talented dir^ctor of the first picture, who is an ardent mystery story reader on his own accord. Hunt Stromberg, former star newspapor man( was the producer. "After the Thjn Man" presents a uparkling comedy-mystery, placed in San Ffancisco. Powell, as the detective, Nick Charles, arrives home after a New York v.enture determined to abandon the profession of sleuthing. But he encounters immediate mystery, murder and intrigue in an affair that extends from tho aristocratic heights of old Nob Hill to the shadowed alleye of Chinatown. ' ' After the Thin Man " " ig a picture that will rtin its original a close race for popularity. It is . more than a sequel, for it picks up in high gear where "The Thin Man" left off and it never slackens the pace.
