AUCKLAND, Last Night. The death of June Carter, aged 38, after drinking somethiiig'at Whenuapai was reported to the coroner to-day by the Kumeu cohstable. The police repojt stated - -that the girl had been in domestic service at Auckland but on Wednesday went to -Whenuapai, where she had formerly lived, and visited the storekeeper • and his wife, Mr and Mrs Rehmy, who gave her a bed for the night. The fpllowing day, when it was thought she had gone to Auckland, she uSexpectedly returUed, and when .Mr Reamy was -cutting wood-in the backyard she approached and drank from a glase jar spmething 'which seemed to be of a milky nature. She immediately became ill. . . A • doctor ' waa called, but the girl died. It was beiieved that the girl 's act was due to a hopeless infatuation. : The inquest .wae opened to-day..by Mr ' F. K. Hunt, and after hearing eyidence of identification was adjourned sine die.
