Annual "Family Evening" I The Taradale Town ,Hall was packed with a great crowd when the Taradale and District Returned Soldiers' Association held their annual "family evening," a feature which never i'ails to prove a great success for the whole district. Mr H. E. Elderton, president of the Toradale and District R.S.A., briefly introduced the proceedings, referring to last year's great success, and expressing the view that the gathering would always be eagerly ^looked forward to in the future. , At a latter stage Mr Alderton took the opportunity to record appreciation to all who had assistcd to promote the all-round success, and at the same fime conveyed to the ladies of ihe district the association's great appreciation of the help given to all R.S.A. functions by the ladies at all times. The programme included dancing, musical items, xecitals, and a very jolly burlesque of a meeting of the "Women 's Institute by a band of the R.S.A. men attired for the occasion. This proved a specially jolly item and fairly "rocked" the house fith the many lud'.urous phases of "business" niiruduci'cl. Woi.gs' by Messrs W Keen and R. Girling, Jocic Oolbert (pianist), of Napier iVlisses Speakman (recitations) and Nevan (rongs), and an interesting competition, all helped to provide a programme, supplemented by old-time and modern dancing, which was highly enjoyed, the music for this being very ably suppiied by Mrs Kendall (piauist). Mrs T. Johnson, president of the Taradale Women 's Institute, on behalf of the members of the Taradale and Greenmeadows bodies, and of the ladies , of the district generally, expre&sed thanks and appreciation of the R.S.A. 's friendly gesture, it'hich was deeply appreeiated by qll, and also took the opportunity to thank the group for their tver readiness to help in all all'airs promoted for the welfare and ontertainment of the district.
