G ARDEN WEDDING HELD IN GISBORNE YESTERDAY
REED— MURPHY A wedding of much interest to Poverty Bay and Hawke's Bay took place air Panikau when two old North Island families were united, when Elizabetb Muriel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Murphy, of Panikau, was married to Richard Sydney, only son of Mrs. Reed and the late A. V. S. Reed, of Brooklands, Napier. The Rev. N. F. Benham officiated. Miss Margo Morris, of Tolaga Bay, played the wedding march, The bride, who was given away by her father, made a charming picture in her striking gown of magnolia damask satin, cut on princess lines in front and smoothly fitting with skirt extensions that continned above the waist to achieve a built-up effect and fell into a short train, while the front neck-line was slightly cowled. A half circle of golden leaves was arranged to the back of the head, from whicli fell a long tulle veil and she wore gold shoes. She carried a long sheaf of deep cream tinted arum lilies. The bridesmaids were the Misses Monica Murphy, cousin (chief), Rosalic Sainsbury, cousin (Wairoa), and Ruth Reed, the sister of the bridegroom. They were frock alike in blossom pink georgette made in princess style, with long full skirts cut into slight traina. Deep yokes were arranged over the shouldets, the bodices were shirred round the yoke line. High necks were edgea with a circlet of velvet matching flowers and the sleeves were short and puffed. A half circle of silver leaves was, worn on the heads, and *they carried! bouquets of blue Argentine pea antli irises. The best man was Mr. Ben Moriis of Tolaga Bay, and the groomsmen were Messrs. T. Worsp (Cambridge) and Peter Murphy, tho bridegroom '# brother. The ceremony took plaee in the beautiful garden under a spreading horizontal witch elm, which made a lovely background. Marquees were erected on the lawn, where the wedding breakfast was held. The tables were decorated in tall slender vases of white and pale pink cherry and apple blossom, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Murphy received their guests, the latter wearing a becoming gown of stiffened net in brown shades, made in redingote fashion over brown underdress. A brown Baku picture hat was worn and she carried a bouquet of orange and gold azalias. Mrs. A. V. *S. Reed wore a model frock of navy georgette with touches of white, and a navy and white chip straw hat. She carried a charming bouquet of scarlet sweet peas. Mrs. W. G. Sherratt, grandmother, wore navy blue stamped eloque, with • matching coat and a navy hat. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Miss Barbara Reed, Bister of tha bridegroom, wore a navy and white printed fxbck of crepe and navy ha» to match. Miss Janet Reed, sister of the bridegroom, wore a blue linen frock with beige straw chip hat and blue ribbon band.
