H.B. SPRING SHOW
.Very Satisfactory List of Ehtries SECTI0NS FILL WELL Again it is pleasing to record a wont/erfully good list of entries for this year 's Spring Show. The entries are remarkably good when it is considered. that the season' experienced has not been at all favourable for sheep, dairy cattle and pigs, and it is chiefly in these sections that there has been a fallingoff. . Oii the other hand, entries in the horse classes show a very considerable 'inerease, and also in the beef cat tio ^ classes which are likely to be the finest lot yet seen on the ground- The poultry classes also show a good increase iu entries, while the sheep, though slightly fewer than last year, are neverthelesa very good and are in advance of anticipations. Again the entries have exceeded tho 3000 inark, being 3085— and these figures show that once again tho Hawke's Bay Spring Show will rank with the best in the North Island at stny rate. The entries in the trades section have only been equalled once previously, and that was on the occasion of the 1930 Royal Show, and the display this year is likely to exceed in interest and general attractiveness even that splendid show. Taken altogether this year'g forthcoming show will well bear comparison with any that have preceded it: — Following are the comparative figures for the 1936 show and this year's
show: — 1936 1937 Sheep t--- 507 474 Cattle 326 257 Horses 586 636 Pigs HO 55 Fleece wool 40 57 Farm & dairy produce 53 58 Poultry 170 206 Dogs- 590 456 Schools 631 446 Sundries 452 440 3465 3085
