Chinese Success on Shanghai Front JAPANESE MARINES TRAPPED

WELLINGTON, This Day. The following cablegram from Nanking has been received by the Chinese consul:— "There has been very fieree fighting on the whole Shanghai front. The Japanese attcmpted to advance under cover of heavy artillery fire, bombing by neroplanes and mechanised unitsj but were repulsed. In the Liuhang-Lotien area the Chinese sucCessfully counterattaclced. "The Chinese taetics at Chapei have resulted in the trapping of 300 Japanese sailors and tanks. "Fifteen Japanese planes bombed Nanlcing. Another squadron bombed Wulm. A further attempt to bomb Nanking was i'rustrated.
