TO-MORROW'S BIG RACE

"TheBarb.")

Duke . of Gloucester Cup ACCEPTORS AND RIDERS

(By

Never has the interest been taken in an arnateur Tace than is centred in the running of the Duke of Gloucseter Cup which is run over a mile and a quarter at Hastings on Saturday. It is not so much the monetary interest that is the big attraction, as owners qre considering the honour of winning the race more than their regard for L.s.d. The riders, although all wish to ride the successful candidate, are all more than pleased to get the opportunky of riding in a Duke of Gloucester Cup race. It can be plainly seen thus that the spirit in to-inorrow's race is somewhat rare, so that the atmosphere is truely that of

sportsmanship. The cup will be presented to the fortunate owner in front of the main stand and not in the bird-cage as generally is the case. Many well-known owners are represented to-morrow, when all but Mr. W. H. Gaisford, at present in Sydney to see his colt Courtcraft race, will be in attendance to see their horse compete. Also all the best-known amateur riders of the North Island have mounts. Many visitors, too, will be present, sp that this event alone is being considered well worth while making a visit to the Bay to witness. The race will start at 2 p.m. The following are the acceptors with their respectivc riderBr
