"good old so ak" to-night. On the screen at the Regent Theatre to-night there will come to life that unforgettable character. the Old Soak, immortalised by Don Marquis in his original novel. Wallace BeCry now find,s' his greatest role in this characterisation. The picture, "Good Old Boak, ' ' from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, draw8 a cross-seetion of the America that was — the almost United States in the era of prohibition. Beery portrays " the character of • a sinall-town philosopher who retires from active business in order to locate the local speakeasies. The complieations of the plot revolve around a family ncstegg that is stolen. Of course the Old Soak is blamcd. The manner in which he rer stores the money and reunites the clan makes a story that provides many ■ laughs for the audience.
