Favoured with ideal weather eondi-* tions, the semi-finals of the amateur champiouship atid' final of the professional title were staged at St. Andrew's to-day, all being decided over 36 holes.. Iii the morning, over 18 holes, B. J. Smith, jnr.; was four up on E. S. Douglas in the professional section. In the amateur semi-finals T. H. Horton was two up on R. F. Kitto at tlie eighteenth. B. M. Sillt also was two up over 11. W. Hattersley at the eighteenth.
