GUERILLA FORCES Chieftains Harassing The Italians ROADS ENDANGERED

(Beceived 7, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 6. The Times says that Abyssinian chieftains still govern Abyssinia. They are carrying on guerilla warfare and are harassing the Italians at every opportunity. Becently they attacked Adowa, in the defence of which 200 Italian soldiers and Askaris wero, killed. As a result, Marshal Graziani abandoned his visit despite the arrangements made for his Teception. Guerilla forces earlier attacked Makalle, while certain points on the Addis
Ababa-Massawa road are continually endangered. In one raid, the "Abyssinians smashed and burned 200 transport lorries. So far the cultivation of cereals has not been resumed, despite local needs. Millet, whieh before the Italian occup^tion was exported in large quantities, is now imported. The Abyssinians have almost entirely abandoned their lands.
