NEW RADIO STATION AT OPAPA
Tender Has Been Accepted by Government READY NEXT YEAR A tender has been accepted by the Government for tbe erection of the new radio-broadcasting station, vvhich is to be built at Opapxt, according to advice received in Hastings to-day. Work is to begin immediately, and it is hoped to have the new station in operation by next August. * In a telegram from Parliament Buildings to the Herald-Tribune today, Mr. E, L. Cullen, M.P. for Hawke's Bay, states: "1 have been advised by the Hon. the Minister in Gharge of Broadcasting that a tender has been accepted from Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia), Ltd., to erect a five-kilowatt broadcasting transmitter for the Hawke 's Bay district. "The manufaeture of the apparatus will begin immediately and will occupy some months. The installation of the equipment will take place as early as possible and it is expeeted to have the station in operation by the end of August of next year." The new station will be built on a site about a quarter of a inile from the Te Aute Hotel on the Ellison Estate.
