Anonymity

BROWN,
Sir,— It haa become a common alur by the "limelight brigado" to refer to i anonymous letters appearing in your columns as unworthy of Berious* consideration. Even the Mayor of Hastings some little timo ago referred tQ "anonymous and malicious" letters appearing in the Press, evidently bracket* ing the terms as aynonymous. Now, 8h"; it seems to me that their argument lacks foundation, It .is simply a question of whether peraons or principles are most iinportftot. Of eourse, if one is looking for cheap advertisement tho constant obtrugidh of one 's pame may be good business, Also, certain names are so well (and unfavourably) known that a glance at the eignature obviates wading through their prolixities. It is a weak argument that requires backing up by the wri,ter parading hi« owu Derteonalitv.^Yours.
