TUTAEKURI RIVER GROYNE
Engineer s Report to Board As far as can be seen, the concrete blocks in the groynd at the mouth of the Tutaekuri rjver, have settled ,down well and are in suitable conditioh for buiiding on when required. This information was supplied to the Hawke's Bay Rivers' Board to-day by the engineer, Mr. G. Rochfort, wlio reported that during the monthi a fresh m the river lowered the outer and beiow low-tide level. Good progress had been made in clearing the river channel of pug, and he suggested that the board's $xcavator be brought dawn to heJp in this work and to open the Waitangi and Mission drains. The Waitangi floodgate was not in good condition owing to the height oi' the water in the river, and it is difficult to keep it clear. Better results were antieipated when the river level was lowered. This floodgate was responsible for a certain amouufe of loeal flooding at Papukura recently, due to its inefficient condition.
