VISITING LADY GOLFERS ENTERTAINED AT NAPIER
The visiting Australian and New Zealand lady golfers who are visiting Napier for the ehampionships were the guests of the Napier Ladies' Golf Club afc an official dinner on Saturday eveuiug at the Masonic Hotel. Several private dinner parties were also held, having been arranged by lady golfers from local clubs and tlieir friends. Can-ied out in bright shades of red, the official tablo decorations were very beautiful. A lovely witch-bowl of General Gallien roges, ranunculi and foliage in autumn tones made a lovely centrepiece, wbile dainty posy bowls of cainelias and aneniones in the same warm shades also adorned the table. Two miniature koala bears, a compliment to the Australian team, were a happy thought and made a novel finish to the artistic decorations, and these were afterwards presented to the Australian team by Mrs G. Ivelly, as a souvenir of their visit to Napier. Those present were: — Members of the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union: Mrs Mellsop (Rotorua) patroness, Mrs Godby (Christchurch), president), Mrs G. Kelly (Napier, chhirman) . Mrs Duncan Stout (Wellingiton), Mrs J. C. Findlay (Auckland), Mrs R. Friday (Taranaki), Mrs Horton (South Auckland) Mrs Russell Grace (Wanganui), Mrs Dodgshun (Dunedin), Miss L. Lucas (Nelson). Members of the Australian team ; Miss Wray (captain and manager), Mrs Sloan Morpeth, Miss Hutton, Miss Shirley Tolhurst, Miss Betty Kernot, Miss Cheney; members of the New Zealand team, Mrs Guy Williams (Masterton), Mrs G. Hollis (Hawera), Mrs R. Fullerton Smith (Hunterville), Miss J. Betts (Nelson), Miss Pat Helean (Hastings), Miss Horvvell (Timaru). Members of the local eommittee: Mrs Hector Smith (president), Mrs Ewen Troutbeck (vice-president), Mrs F. N. Fussel (captain), Miss M. Dalgleish (secretary), Mrs Dalgleish, Mrs J. L. Masterson, Mrs P. C. Holmes, Mrs Dudley Kettle, Mrs A. E. Lawry, Mrs Clifton Geddis and Miss Zoe Fryer, Mrs A. T. Spain and Mrs R. M. Dalgleish. Some of the visitors were later entertained at a bridge and mah-jong party at the Hawke's Bay Women's | Club. .Others were guests at a picture party, all meeting afterwards at the Women's Club, Others were guests at a picture party, all meeting) afterwards at the Women's Olub which was gay with masses of spring flowers and blossoin, and where a most delicious supper was sexwed, aud enjoyed by everyone, A most pleasant garden party in hononr of the golfers was held yesterday afternoon when the ho,stess was Mrs Howard Glazebrook, The Washpool, Hastings. ' About 290 guests * were present and these included the officials and members of the Waiohiki and Hastings Ladies' Golf Clubs, all visiting- golfers, members of the Australian and New Zealand Tasman Cup teams and all other golfing officials. The beautiful garden was very much admired by everyone and a delightful afternoon was enjoyed wandering about. A delicious afternoon tea was served outside and was appreciatcd by all the guests.
