Open Golf Championship at St. Andrew's THIRD ROUND PLAYED

HAMILTON, This Day. With zest added to the competition by the improved performances of the players yestorday, keen interest was evinced in the playing of the third and fourth rounds of the open championship which was decided when the New Zealand golf tournament resumed at St. Andrew's to-day. A heavy fog overhung the course when the first of tlie players who had qualifxed over the first two rounds commenced this mornxng, but by midday ideal conditions prevailed. The greens were sJightly nolding early, but dried out rapidly. Seventy-three players qualified for the third round, jvhich was played this morning. Difficulty was experienced by the early players in seeing their tee shots in the haze, which had an adverse eifect on the scores, but later good cards were retunied.
