Negotiations for New Zealand Horse COURTCRAFT'S G00D GALL0P SYDNEY, Oct. 1. A Randwick trainer states that an 'olfer has been made for the New Zealand galloper Floodtide, in the vicinity of £2500. Negotiations for the purchase of the horse began yesterday. when a cablegram was received from New Zealand stating that the bedrock price for Floodtide was £7000. Perimond, wlio was an acceptor for to-morrow 'a Derby, is reported to be lame and may not start. The New Zealand horse Courtentft ran a mile in 1.40 this morning, equalling the track record. He showed extreme brilliancy, running the first two furlongs in 24isecs., four furlongs in 48L and six in 1.13^. P. Atkins was the rider. Francis Drake, also ridden by Atkins, ran seven furlongs in 1.28, which is easily his best elfort eince he arrived at Randwick. A Melbourne message saye that Lawn Derby, the greatest unhoppled phcer in Australia^ failed by one-tenth Of a second to break his world record for a mile at the Melbourne Showground. His time, 2.3 3-5. easily eclipsed the track .record of 2.8£ set by Auburn Lad.
