TENNIS "BREEZE"
upheaval in brisbane association expelled BRISBANE,' Sept. 18. The most serious disturbanee in Brisbane's tennis world for many years has ended in the expulsion of the powerful Summer Association, and the scattering of its 2000 odd players. The Summer Association ignited the Euse of a high explosive when, centrary to the coiistitution of the Q.L.T.A., it announced drastic cuts to affilxation and registration fees, offering at the same time free coaching for juniors and other attractions to new and old .players. In its penalties' for a •constitutional breach the Q.L.T.A. proved'- equally drastic. ' First; the Summer Association was suspended, and then, i'gnoring the association's letter announcing its withdrawal from the controlling body, it was expelled for failing to justify its reduction of fees to'a level below that fixed by the L.T.A. • Players who, as a result of the decision find themselves unattaehed, and who desire it, will be absorbed underan L.T.A. scheme. Those who remain with the Summer Association will be excluded from competition with affiliated bodies and in tournaments conducted by the L.T.A. / The Summer Association claims it is in a position to arrange interstate matches and games against oountry associations. It wiii be possible to play only unaffiliated players or associations, and the prospect may not appeal to the majority.'
