WELSH RUGBY UNION
wave of enthusia5m great season likely Rugby clubs in Wales approach the coming season full of confidence. Tht indications are that it will be one of the best seasons in the history of the game, comments the Sydney Referee's London correspondent. "We are on the crest of a prosperity wave," said a prominent official. "We have an abundance of players, and the youngsters are progressing on the right lines. "Trade has improved in most districts, though much leeway still has to l»e made up. Many clubs turned the corner financially last year. In the coming months they look for much larger gates and greatly inereased receipts." This hopeful spirit prevails throughout Wales. All the leading clubs have their plans ready, and already club secretaries have been inundated with applications for trials. In West Wales, particularly, the rekindling of enthusiasm is a tribute in large measure to the organisation and development of ex-sehoolboy clubs. To encourage it still further, many clubs are making substantial conce^sions in the way of cheaper tickets for attendance at matches, and in the provision of easy facilities for the training of, juniors. . t . From the international pomt of view, Welsh prospects are rosy. 'L st season's international players are available again, and it is reasonable to expect that many of the^ aspiring youngsters will make sufficient progress to challenge the tried players.
