AUCKLAND, Last Night. Matters xelating to health, and. partieularly Jo various aspects of the McMillan report, wero dealt with at the Dominion conference of tlie Natioual Conncil of Women. The Auckland branch brought forward a remit which affirnxed that ihe social evil of abortiou was rooted in a c.oxomon responsibility and that any eanipaign for raising tho moral and ethical staudard of conduct iu the community mhst have a joint appeal to both men and women so that by their mutual eft'orts they inight ea, sure tho building of a virile and hnppy people, It was alleged that tho McMilku report had not stressed tho responsibility of mcu in the matter and the remit, which was passcd unaniaieuslyE was brought forward with a view to cmphasisiug this aspeet of the case. The sale and advertising of coutraceptives and abortifaeients was the subject of a renfit from the Manawatu branch, which asked that legislation ,to govern and control the sale and advertising of these articles should be brought in. After rnueh diseussion the remit was araended to state that the conference supported the McMillan report 's recommewlntions with regard to the sale and adrertising of coutraeeptives and abortifaeients and asked that legislation to make tho recommc-mlit tions effeetive should be introduced.
