Society^ Seventh Anniversary Celebrations •A HAPPY GATHERING '.....ilt was a typical "Gatheriug o' the Uiuns tliat marked th© seventh auniversary of tho ' rA^^urniipn. of tlio Hastings and District iScofcs Society', " an event long to be reniembered by meinbers and their friends who met at the Oddfellows' Hall', Hastiugb. The programme was unique m that it was uontributedi to by members, past and present; soine of tho artists gave the BUme items as were given at the tirst Ingleside held seven ^ears ago iu the old Club Tearooms, since demolish--ed. The supper committee also took the opportumty oi putting on a special bili of fare for the happy event. On the menu was "Cauld Dumpling," Oatcakes, Shortbread and "Black Bun," better known as currant bun. • Chief P. J. Priest presided, accompanied by Chieftains J. 8. iStorer, E. V. Simpson, J. W. Shaw, and J. Rainsay; Chief McConuel and Mr. Ka^ (secretary), visitors i'rom the i'ort Ahuriri Caiedonian Society. In extending a hearty welconie to members and their iriends, Chiel Priest said he was pleased to see sucb a large and happy' gathering, including C'hiei McConnei and Mr. iiay, iron. How tlie speaker delved into history from 1314 to 1936. was amazing, how she moulded her address on the beautiful and bumble life of Our Queen, so youug and sweet, from her cliiJdhood days right up to the present time, how she desoribed the humble life of the Stratlirriores, and their ancestraJ home, Glamis Castle. nestling between the Grampian mntains and the Sidlay Hills, earned for Mrs. Baird applause wliich eachced throughout the liail.
Another feature on the programme was a play-reading titled "Limericks.' in the cast were MrS. Storer, Mrs. Harper, Miss McQuire and Mr. J. W. Shaw, with Miss Collins reading direotions. This item was also greatly appreciated. Other artists were: The Pipe Band, solection; song, Mr. T. Johnston; song, Mrs. tlayes ; reeitution, Mr. Slieriif ; dance, Mrs. Zeta Bergman, aecoinpanied. by Piper Bergman; song, Mrs. Priest; pianoforte selection, Miss Collins, conimunity sing, conducted by Mr. N. McKay ; song, Mr. T. B. McQuire; dance, Miss Joyee Farquharsou ; recitation, Mrs. Guthrie; Bong, Mr. J.'McDonald ; daiice, Miss Ramsay : recitation, Mr A. Robertsoin Dancing iollowed the supper.
