CHRISTCHURCH, Last Nisrlit. Entries were smaller at the AdcDng1 ton market to-day, and there was a sharp advance for fat sheep. There was a mediocre yarding of storo sheep the only decent quality lines being ewes and lambs. These sold from 16/to*20/3 for the best. Ewe hoggets made to 33/6, and some wethers to 26/3. About 70 spring lambs were penned, and the best made from 34/- to 37/7, or fullv 1/- per lb. There was a small entry of 3500 fat sheep, which met with a keen sale, with an advance of up to 2/6 a head. Shorn wethers made slightly more. Extra prime heavy wethers sold to 52i/4, prime heavy 42/- to 45/-, prime medium weight 37/- to 41/-, ordinary wethers 32/- to 36/-, extra prime heavy ewes to 45/10, prime heavy 46/- to 40/-, prime medium weight 31/- to 34/2, ordinary to 30/-. There was a small entry of 410 head of fat cattle, which met with an erratic sale. Heavy steers wer'e easier, good medium weight s were better, and OJ-dinary unclianged. The best beef made from 36/- to 38/- per 1001bs., and,^ in cases, to 40/-, average 32/6 to 35/-, and inferior down to 25/- Extra prime heavy steers sold to £18 17/6 prime heavy £.15 5/- to £16 10/-, prime medium weight £13 5/- to £15, ordinary £10 to £12 10/-, extra prime heifers to £13 17,/ 6, prim© £10 to £12, medium £6 15/- to £9 10/-, extra prime
cows to £14 7/6, prime £8 6/- to £10, medium cows £6 5/- to £8, light cows to £6. There was a small entry and a good sale for vealers. Runners made t0 £8 13/6, heavy runners £5 6/- .to £7 1/-, vealers £2 15/- to £4 7/6, calves 16/to £3 lb/-. . ' A poor lot of dairy qattle were entered, but ,some wore of outstanding grade. JTriesians made- from £9 to £12. Jersey culls dominated the entry and only odd pens of cqjvs were forward,1 and theso met with a good demand up to £4 17/G. There was a smaller entry of fat pigs. Porkers were firmer, and baconers steadied slightly on recent high rates. Porkers made from 36/6 to £3 8/-, the average price per lb. being 7£d to 8^-d; baconers, £3 10/6 to £5 6/6, the average priqe -per )b. being 7d to 8d. Tliere was a heavy entry of weaners, which were easier by about 3/- a head, as were light stores. Heavy stores sold well.
