Full Membership Expected By Parkvale Club ' ' There was a slight increase ln inem- • bershjp during the season, and the winter membership showed a considerable increase. There appears to be quito a large number of new members in sight for the coming season, and the indications aro for a full membership." Thus states the annual report of the Parkvale Lawn Tennis Club to be presented at the annual meetiug next "Wednesday evening. It is proposed to officially open the season on October 10. In the meantime, members are advised that nominations for the offices of president, vice-presi-dent, treasurer and secretaiy close next Monday. The annual report states that the club was sueces,sful in raising quite a substantial sum in supportxng the Tennis Queen during the batliing bpaut-y contest held by the Hastings Progress League during the latter montlis of 1936. The annual ball was again a decided sueeess 'socialJy, but a slight ioss fiuancially. Tho club ckampionships resulted as follows: Men's singles, W. McKay; meu's doubles, W. McKay and D. Wiliiams; women 's singles, Miss G. Jenkius; women 's doubles,' Misses G. and J. Jcnkins; combijied doubles, Miss G. Jenkins and F. Geor. Although the club was not successful in rotaiuing the Luxford tihiedd; the .following players are to be thauked for their effovts iu this direction: W. Melvay, F. 11. Orawford, W. Williams, F. Geor, H. S. B. Ribbands, D. Emms, Miss G. Jenkins, Miss J. Jenkins, Miss E. Mitlcaster, Mrs D. Emms, Mrs A. Aldridge, Miss 1L Thompson, ,and Miss M. Wyalt. The committee arranged quite a number of inter-club friendiy inatehes for lower grade players, and apart from the social success of these matches, quite a lot of experience was gained. The committee is pleased to be able to state that under the present system of collecting court fees, these liavo shown a very substantial increase in revenue.
