It is the recipe for the cake wliich wili be the competition for ihe mimbers iu month' s meeting but many other readers will no doubt like to try it} also. % , Ingredients : 6ozs. butter, 1 cup of sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup of milk with 1 teaspoonfui ot soda dissolved in it, 2 cups °t flour Jlb. raisins, 1 teaspoonful essence oi lemon, £ teaspoonful essence of AT0n> tablespoonfuls of vuiegar. Method : Beat the butter and sugar to a cream, add the beaten egg, es~ sences, then milk and flour alternately. Mix m the raisins and add the vinegar last.
