Minister Appiauded interest in the house

WELLINGTON, Last Night. When the House of Eepresentativea resumed at 7.30 the galleries were crowded for the presentation of the Budget, although some seats on both sides of the floor of the House itself were vacant. The Consolidated Fund Estimates and the Public Works Esti* mates were introduced by Governor* General 's message and the Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Nash, who was greeted with applause, commenced the reading of the Financial Statement at 7.35, and it was listened to with the keenest interest. Mr, Nash concluded the reading of the Financial Statement at 9.28, the reading occupying an hour and 53 minutes. There were no interjections whatever during the Minister 's statement and he was greeted with a fresh outburst oi applause when h® had finished reading. On the motion for the adjournment by the Prime Minister, the leader of i the Opposition (Hon. A. Hamilton) asked what business the Govemment intended to take to-morrow. Mr. Savage, Teplying, said to-morrow they would take questions and answera and it might be possible to take reports on the Imperial Conference as well aa private bills. .The House would begin the Budget debate at 7.30 on Thursday evening. The House adjourned at 9.33.
