It is not kttbwn whether ahy .communication was receiyed frOitt the Federatien in Wellington in reply to the request for. cottsideration of the objection to handling any cargo which might be used by Japan for ' war purposes. i Mr. T. Solomon, president of the Watersiders' Union, when interviewed replied: "I d°nit tliink any longshoreman in New Zealand would handle any materials for the manufacture of munitions to be used for the slaughtef oi innocent Women and children in China." Disputes which arose for other reasons on the steamers Awatea and Port Waikato Were discuSsed at a conference of employers and employees this mdrning, attd the men later resuttied work.
