Waipukurau Jockey CIu's Income on Year's Working
(From
WAIPUKUBATJ, Last Night. The aff-airs of the Waipukurau Jockey Club are now in a satisfactory state, according to comments made on the report and balance sheet by the president, Mr. P. F. Wall, at the annual general meeting, held in the County Council rooms, Waipukurau, this afternoon. Mr. Wall said that the year's working showed increases in all departments of the club's income. The profits showed an excess of £505 6/6 over the 1936 figures. Still further cause for satisfaction was the position of the bank overdraft, which, he said, had been Teduced in the past two years by £2753 11/5. Salary "cuts" had been restored, making the wages bill a little higher than last year's. There was a sligh,t incxeaso in the aniount outstanding in members' subscriptions, but the president said he felt sure that was merely a matter for a little thought and attention on the part of members. The following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Mr. P. F. Wallj vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Armstrong and J. D. Todd; hon. treasurer, Mr. B. McLean; committee, Messrs. D. Holden, A. L. McCormick, C. J. O'Beilly and C. Baymondj hon. auditor, Mr. G. E. Fowler. Special votes of thanks were passed to the auditor, Mr. Fowler, who, in the chairman's words, "has been very good to the club over a period of years," and to Mr. Giblin who donnted a cup for the Boxing Day meeting. Mr. D. Cunningham, of Takapau, was elected a member.
