NEW RADIO STATION
Tenders for Construction of Buildings
51te near opapa station
Tenders have been called for the construction of buildings on the site of the new broadcasting Station in Hawke's Bay for the National Broadcasting Service. In the speciflcations, buildings alono are provided for, the erection of transmitting masts and the assembliug of the actual radio equipment having apparently been left to the officials of the service. Two buildings are to be erected on a 12-acre section near the Opapa railway station, one being the broadcasting station itself, and the otlier the residence of the manager. Both etructures are of modern design, one-storeyed, and of simple construction, and will be built adjoining the main highway to the south. The house will be a ilve-rpoined one, with suu-porch and other verandah space, with a garagc attached. In the station building, the main rooms will be a transmitting one, 50 feet long and just over 34 feet wide, an engine-room, an office, a studio, and a loading dock. The building will be Situated some 75 feet back from the road, presumably to do away to a certain extent with traffic noises.
