Soldier Settler' s Position The monthly meeting of the committee of the Hastings Returned Soldiers' • Association was beld last evening, tho president, Mr P. J. Priest, presiding over Messrs P. J. S. George, Gt H Roach; W. A. Mclntyre, L. J. B. Hammond, D. S. McLeod, g. I. Jones, L J. Mackersey and V. A. Thomson (secretary). Leave of absence was granted Messrs C. G. Wilkinson and F. H. Goldfinck.' The secretary reported , that nine members had signified their desire to nlake the proposed, trip to Sydney in April next. / Headquartei's advised that it was proposed to define a policy in ' regard to the Varied conditions affecting individual soldiers repatriated on the land, including house ■ prbper'ties under the' D.S.S. Act. A request was made for: (a) A categorical list of all known difficulties and problems facing the returned soldier. (b) Suggestions as to how these difficulties and problems may be overcoiue or mitigated. (c) General information as ,to Soldier settlements and the position of t.lie. settlers thereon in eacb part of Ihe eountry from "tlie settler' s angle. (d) Any other information or comnients which any association may have t-o give or offer concerning land settlement questions, It was resolved to ask soldier settlers to submit their. views to the local association for consideration.
