HASTINGS ORPHANS' CLUB
Visit from Waipawa Savages Last night 's korero of the Hastings Orplrans ' Club was the ninth of the season. The Waipawa Savage Club paid its annual visit to the Orphans, the prqgramme being in the hands of the visitors. Ghief Savage Chisholm and Secretary-Savage Moss led the visitors, wlio were entliusiastically greeted by Ghief Orphan D. Campbell and Orphans. The programme opened with a short talk by Past-Chief Savage A. E. Jull on "A Yisit to Canberra." The speaker was most interesting, and his inipressions of his vigit to Australia's garden capital city were listened .to with keen interest. He also handed round a nuoiber of large photograpks illustrating his remarks. The instrumental, elocutionary and vocal items were of a high order. Orphan Munsen gave humorous musical monologues, and Savages Haldane, Windlo and Parsons were in fine voice in their trio vocal numbers, with Savage Rust at' the piano. The evening 's highlights were t he songs contributed by Savage Venner. This performer's efforts were of a high musical order and were "put over" in fine style. Later Savage E. T. Haldane was hoard in two fine songs. An instrumental trio by Savages Rust (piano), Windle (violin) and Cotlerell ('cello) was greatly enjoyed. Orphan L. Searle entertained the gathering with a aiusical monologue, followed by a humorous number "After-Dinner Speeches." A great evening 's entertainmcnt was concluded with yodelling solos by Savag Parsons. During the evening the Hastings club's ' orchestra playcd a number of selections, two numbers being at the . request .of tha yisitors^ 1
