ANOTHER BELLISS

IN FATHER'S F00TSTEPS SON OF REN0WNED "MOKE" FIND . IN AUCKLAND RUGBY Born at Taihape, Ernest V. Belliss, better known to his friends as "Jack," is the son of "Moke" Belliss, the noted ex-All Black forward, and is 21 years of age. He is 6ft. lin. in height and turns the scales at a little over 13 stone. In his schoolboy days he played for Taihape School, also for the Taihape District High School, the skipper of the latter team being "Bill" Elliott, now a member of the crew of H.M.S. Leander. Belliss was a student at Flock House for two years, where he gave early promise of his football capabilities. After leaving Flock House he went Jin for sheep farming at Otane and joined up with the Otane team in the Central Hawke's Bay Sub-union. Playing as centre-three-quarter he represented the sub-union for two years and quite recently he came to Auckland and threw in his lot with the Otahuhu Club. In the half-dozen games played for the south suburban club he has greatly impressed followers of the Rugby code. He is particularly fast and has a good fend, and is one of the outstanding forwards seen in action in Auckland this season. Playing his first rep. game for Auckland . gaiqst Manawatu recently he was hailed as the find of the season, and with youth on his side and full of the determination that makes the footballer, he should gain many representative honours. Belliss is a good all-round sporting enthusiast, as in addition to numerous swimming suceesses, he is a fair cricketer, and has competed with success in the boxing ring. In the latter sport he has fought 13 bouts in the amateur code, winning 11 and dra'wing two, one of his decisions being over Barber, the Hawke's Bay heavy weight champion. Some three years ago he and his father, "Moke" Belliss, played in a game for.a successful Taihape team, Belliss junr., playing as full-back, while Belliss, senr, led the forwards into actipn.
