ST. MARY'S HOME HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING

•A good attendance of eommittee members and friends was -presided over by .the Rt. llev. the Bishop .of* Waiapu at the annual meeting of>St. Mary's Home, Napier, yesterday afternoon. Apologies for abs'ence were received from 'Miss Elsie Williams, Mrs Fowler, Deaeoriess Holmes and Mr Pilson. The Bishop opened the meeting with prayer. after which the annual report and balance. sheet were presented and adopted. The i'ollowing officers were eleeted ' for. the ensuing year: — House eommittee, Mrs H. Williams*, Mrs Brockl&hurst, Mrs Mayo, Mrs Herbert Coleman( Miss Elsie Willianis, Mrs Davies, 'Mrs Fowler, Mrs Hector Smith, Mrs Watson. Mrs W. P. Newton, Mrs Oxford, Mrs'Win Nelson. Mrs B. Norman, Mrs W. Caiheron; treasurer, Mr R. E. H. Pilson (re-elected) ; superintendent and secretary, Nurse Uarter (re-elected) ; hon. ' medical officer;* Dr. FifzGerald (re-elected) ; hon, solicitor, Mr-'T. B. Logan (re-elected). • Speaking of the splendidj wprk done by Nurse Carter and her staff, the .Bishop said How increasingly difficult it was to obtain domestic help. Consequently the hoihe had suffered, those in charge being unable to cope with all the; work entailed. Continuing, the . speaker paid tribute to the work done by Mrs. Wills, who has been assisting at the . home for the past 16 years, and is leaving -shortly for . Christchurch where she *will in future reside. Best wishes were • entertained for her future pnd for the recovery of her health. 'Miss Olive Williams is also -sever■ing her cohnection with the home after six yeafs' continuous . assistance, and the Bishop said how sorry . everyone connected with the home would be at the loss of two such efficient and conseientious workers. Concluding, the speaker said how very gjratefuh everyone was to Nurse Carter .and her staff for .the whole1 hearted way In which they had carried'* out their duties. Nurse Carter thanked Mesdames Oxford, Mayo and Newton for the new hall linoleum which. was much appreciated, and also specially thanked Miss TJrsula Williaxns for the inter-. est she has taken in the home and for the new linoieums she had proeur-' ed for geveral rooms. Madame Mercer is giving a concert in the near future, the proceeds of which are to be pr® . sented to this linoleum fund. Canon Hodge was also thanked by Nurse Carter for the weekly services conducted by him at * the home,' thes® being greatly appreciated. Dean . Brocklehurst then moyed a vote "of thanks to N.nrse Carter and her staff for their excellent work and this was duly cairied. Mrs Oxford proposed a vote of thanks to Drs, .FitzGerald and Bar- . nett, Mr I. Logan ' and Mr Savory, which was accorded by ali present. The meeting was then* closed and everyone adjourned to the large sit•ting robm which was gay with tall vases of golden bloom and bowls of large golden daisies. Afternoon tea was served, after which the Visitors were shown over the home and gjrounds by Nurse Carter. Among those present were.: The Rt. Rev. Bishop ,H.
