. . . . SANTIAGO. Among the many . gifts received by Queen Elizabeth of England is one of particular interest to the people of Chile. This is a large antique silver salver bearing a simplc inscription, the ofEering of the Chilean branch of the Lyon family of which her Majesty is a member. The lineage of the Lyon family, resident for a century past in this country, was carefully and elaborately worked out by William Russell Young of Valparaiso. His findings are based on research in family archives in Chile and England, and have been aided by information supplied by Marchmont Herald, the College of Heralds, the Society' of Antiquaries and the Curator of the British'Museum. The Lyon family, numerous and wealthy, plays an influential role in the political, business and agricultural life of Chile.
