Slippery was very lame at Wanganui and very little better at Foxton last week-end, so liis chauces of winning at Marton this Saturday do uot appear very hopeful. # # # A very smart filly was Goira last season. She is very speedy and there will be the right support behind her at Marton to say that she will go very close to collecting major honours in the hack five furlongs in whichi the Arausio filly has been awarded 8 — 9. * # # Hunting Spy and Pukehou are another pair of "scurriers" that will be taking part in the same race as Geira but their performances hardly weigh up to that of the Arautio filly. « -u « Colleen Gain was fourth both starts at Foxton, but her fonu as only moderate. She is not showing the dash she was a few months back and, having now raced for some montlis on end it is natural to assnme that this Uaiusccuirt four-year-old has trained off in the meantiine. # * * Mr R. She was godng a little short in her work last week, but on Thursday morning, in compatiy with Hagen, strod'e out much more freely. • • •» ,T, W. Price has an addition to his string in Royal Spades. Thds Hunting Song gelding last summer went amiss, but now to all outward appearances has made a coinplete recovery. # « • A half-sister, by Sky Blue, to that good performer Pukeko is a regular attendant on the Hastings tracks. A well grown mare, but not possessed of a great deal of quality, she undoubtedly has speed, for last Saturday, in her first gallop she registered 37 for three furlongs and then on Tuesday did half a second better. Both sprinta were on the plough, so this mare should have little difficulty in winning races.
