Mr A. W. Pirie has been appointed a member of the Licensing Uommittce for Napier distriet, according to an anaouncenient in the Gazette. Mr D. Brathwaite, of the Waipukurau Post Office staff, has been notified of his transfer on promotion to the Napier Post Office. He will be replaced on Monday by Mr S. Leitch. Mr C. E. W. Wacher, Christchurch, has been appointed district solicitor to the Public Trust Office, Napier, and will leave at the beginning of next month to take up his new position. Mr D. Calderwood, formerly of the Hastings braneh of the Bank of New Zealand, who has been appointed to the staffi of the bank's Dannevirke braneh in succession to Mr W. M. Sorensen, wafe weleoincd at a gatliering of the Dannevirke staff yesterday. Mr J. T. Martin, of Wellington, has had conferred upon hirn the distinguished honour of the lioyal Svyedish Order of Vasa, first class, in recognition of his services as Consul for Sweden in Wellington since 1924. Mr Martin is a past president of the Wellington Ohamber of Commerce, and he was a eouncil member i'or New Zealand of tno Swedish Chamber'of Commerce for tho pcriod 1924-1932.
