Power Lines Penetrate. An electric power line lias now penetrated the .Springhill distriet, supplying current to about a score of settlers there. ThB current was switched on for the first time last Friday. It is the intention of the Central Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board to extend the line to Argyle. Small extensions have been made at Kopua and Hatuma and within a f ortnight the board 's workmen will begin the work of erecting a line to Tamuoiu. Concrete poles have already been transported to the route. Otane Oricket Cluh. The annual meeting of the Otane Cricket Club was held in the library, Mr. J. Ashby presiding over a small attendance. The halance sheet showed a small credit. The club had enjoyed a good season and had played a number of friendly games in addition to | the competition matches. Vote3 of thanks were passed to all who had in various ways assisted the club during the season. Owing to the small attendance it was decided to adjourn the meeting for a ' week and in the meantime to ascertain the number of players likely to be available for the com-» ing season. Books From Clive. The secretary of Otane Public Library acknowledges a parcel of books on exchange from the Clive Library.
