Birthday Party at Waipukurau
There was a large attendanee at the birthday party of the Waipukurau Women's Institute, over which Mrs H. Duckworth presided. Yotes of sympathy were extended to Mesdames N. Hubhard, M. Murphy and E. Perkins in their recent bereavements. The following programme was presented: Recitation; Mrs N. Tate ; humorous sketch, Mesdames C. Begley and F. Fraser; songs, Mesdames J. Dunlop and Murray; iiumorou? sketch, Mesdames H. Duckworth and Pendray ; play-reading, "Lipstick,"- Institute members. Following afternoon tea, the candles in the birthday cake, made by Mrs J. Brown and iced by Miss M. Peterson, were Jighted by Mrs Timm and the cake was cut by Mrs Paterson. Mrs G. L. Jamieson extended birthday greetinas on behalf of the Wallingford Institute and Mrs E. Allan on behalf of the Hatuma Institute. Greetings were received also from the Takapau, Ashley Clinton, Ongaonga, Norsewood and Tikokino institutes. The resulta of the competitions for the month were : Best oollection of bullis: Mrs Peterson 1, Mrs F. Fraser 2, Mrs Dilworth 3. Best collection of poJyanthus: Miss' Peterson 1, Mrs F. Fraser 2, Mrs N. N.orris 3. Best-decor-atcd bowl spring liowers: Miss Peterson 1, Mrs Peterson 2, Mrs F, Fraser 3. Brawn : Mrs G. Bromell 1 and 2, Mrs Peterson 3. Articlo from 501b. fiour bag: Mrs N. Norris (child's frf»ck), 1 JMrs Fraser 2, Miss Peterson 3. A competition for a dinner was won by Mrs L. Papp. Mesdames F. Fraser and H. Keir were appointed delegjates to attend the half-yearly council meeting at Papatawa.
