Dr. J. A. Kempthorne, Until lately Bishop of Lichfield, who has spont the past month in New Zealand, left yesrerday by the Aorangi for Sydney, aocompanied by Mrs Kempthorne. Mr H .L. Tancard ,who has been appointed pilot-instructor to the Western Federation (North Island) Flying Glub, aas taken up his new duties, and is av present located at Wanganui Airport. lTntii Tecently Mr Tancred was a pilot on the Union AirwayS' Falmerston North-Dunediu service. Sister F .E. Patrick ,who has been masseuse-in-charge at the Palmerston North Hospital for the past nine years, has resigned on aecount of her ap^ proaching marriage. Her resignatiou is to take effect from Decdmber 1. The board accepted her resignation with regret, and oxtended its good wishes for the future. Mr W. H. Cocker was appointed by the Auckland University College Council at its meeting recently as oue of its represcntatives on the New Zealaud University Senato itt place of Mr. Konueth MaCkeuzie, who tecently resigned his seat. The cuuucil decidcd to /ccord its appreeiatiou of the valuable work doue by Mr Mackeuzie during his terni of offiee. Oolonel and Mrs L. Partridge, Londoil, accompauied by the Misses Part' ridge, Who ti'avelled from Englnnd to Australia iu tho Ofmonde, are due to afrive at WelliUgton by the Wanganolla on September 20. They are to proceed south, where they will be the guests of Mrs Robort Buller, Timaru. The party is to return to England in April next.
