Man Again Charged and Remanded

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. "We shall not be ready for some time," said Uetective-Sergeant T. E. Holmes when Randall Reginald David Smith appeared on remand in the Ma* gistrate 's Court to-day charged with the murder of William Gaby at Arundel on September 10. Dr. A. L. Haslam, who appeared for aecused, consented to a further remand until October 4. Smith, who is a labourer, aged 26, of no fixed abode, was also charged with obtaining £8 16/7 in money and goods from Gordon McHordie at Seacliff By falsely representing that a cheque drawn on the Bank of New Zealand at Geraldine for that amount was good and valid. On this charge also Smith was remanded until October 4.
