WAR INNORTH CHINA Japanese Forces Hotly Pursue Chinese STRATEGIC VICTORIES

(Received 21, 1.50 p.m.) TOKIO, Sept. 20. The Japanese claim that they are preesing on in North Ohiua and that they have occupied Hingho, an important strategic centre south-west of Sulynan. They are consolidating their positions on the Tientsin-Pukow railway and are aftacking the Chinese at Tsang. ; chow and Taeheng, the latter of which is on the eve of eapture. The Japanese in South China are hotly pursuing the Chinese and have ocenpied. Eucheng, 25 miles from Paotingfu. A Peiping message reports that the Japanese troops in the Hope! province have advanced seven miles along the Peiping-Hankow Tailway to a line bordering the Yishu xiver. The vanguard is constantly engaging sldrmishing parties of Chinese firing from the covex of millet fields. Ten Ghinese divisions along the Pei-ping-Hankow line and along the Tient-siu-Tsian line are despfeiately building defences in the hope of checking tho Japanese, bnt the situation is precarious owing to their laclc of axtiliery, tanks and planes. Mongol cavalry supporting the Japanese invading the Suiyuan pr.ovince occupied Shangtu, defeating 1500 Chinese. The Japanese bombed from the air Haiehow and Suchowfu, on the Lungahi railway.
