GIFT PARTIES GIVEN FOR MISS DORICE TAYLOR

Miss Dorice Taylor, whose marriage to Mr Lindsay Matthews took place this morning, has been the guest of honour at inany very jolly gift parties given by her numerous friends. Mrs T. P. Grace was one hostess and her party wfts given at the home oi her mother, Mrs W. A. Burton, Gallien street, Hastings. The guest ot honour wore a frock oi pale green figured crepe, with bishop sleeves, and the neckline finished .with diamante clips. Mrs W. A. Burton wore a smart marocain frock, trimmed with green. Mrs T. P. Grace wore a two-piece frock, having a blue skirt and blouse of white crepe, with a large diamante clip. The drawing room was decorated with autumn foliage and large bowls of marigolds. Games and competitions were wop by Miss Irene .'mvell-Smith, Miss F. Potlian, Miss Madge McArthur, and Miss Marjorie Taylor. After supper, the guest of honour oiiened her parcels ancl disclosed many useful and pretty gifts for which she thanked her hostess and friends. The evening concluded after the guests had all clasped hands and sung the old refrain "For Auld Lang fcjyne." Those present were : Mesdames Hawley, Jenkinson, T. Prosser, A. Haley, Malcolm Sniith, and the Misses Betty apd June Burton, Marjorie Taylor, Pothan (2), Meta Macales?e, Irene Lovell-Smith, Hilda Pope, 11. LLawiey. Doreen Apsey, Milly Dalton, Nola ltobertson, Helen Gertz, May Aitken, Mary Collins, Madge McArthur, Mavis Faulkiior. A very jolly surprise party was held at the home of Miss Hilua Pope, Townshend street, Hastings, the hostess receiving the guests in a smart frock of midnight blue matelatte, with a spray of prciiids. The guest of houour wore a. charming coral pink frock. The lounge was bright with spring flowers and the evening passed all to quickly with games, competitions, and items. Competitions were won by Miss Madge McArthur, and Miss Irene Lovell-Smith. After supper, Miss Taylor, assisted by Miss Marjorie Taylor, who is to be a bridesmaid, opened the gifts and displayed a very useful display of tea towels. A number of friends, unable to be present, including some from Napier, had also sent gifts. In a happy little speech Miss Taylor expressed her surprise and thanks to her hostess and her friends. Those present were : Mrs A. H, Pope, Misses Dorice and Marjorie Taylor, Lyndal Patterson, Margaret Millson, Molly and June Budd, Freda and Rene Pothan, Millie Dalton, Molly lrwin, Peggy and Rona Hawley, Lillie Lord, Kathleen Stubbs, Madge McArthur, Irene Loveli-bmith, Dora Wakelin, Nancy iSigley, Mrs Lane, Mrs Malcolm Sinith, Mrs A. Haley. On Friday evening the Girls' Friendly Society gave an enjoyable party for Miss Dorice Taylor. The party took the form of a mock wedding, the bride being Mrs Nelson; the bridegroom, Miss Kathleen Stubbs; the bridesmaid, Miss Hilda Pope; the two pages, Misses Millie Dalton and Margaret Millson ; the fiower girls, Misses Lyndal Patterson and Nancy Sigley ; the best man, Miss Vic Scolley; the groomsman, Miss Lillie Lord; the bride's father, Miss Elva Kearney ; the Parson, Miss Madge McArthur. The "ceremony", as well as the costumes of the performers, caused a great deal of amusement amongst the audience. • * Supper took the form of a "weuding breakfast", the tliree tiered wedding cake was given by Mrs Stubbs. A number of amusing "telegrams oi' congratulation" were read. During the evening items were given by Mrs Miller, Misses Hilda Pope and Valda John, and competitions and games were played. Ai'terwards Miss Taylor opened the gifts each one had brought and disclosed a wonderful array of beautiful and useful presents. About 45 members and friends were present. Miss Taylor wore a smart frock of blue shot taffeta aud a black velvet evening coat with a large white fur collar.
