A well-knowu Wellington citizen, Mr Georgo Edmund Kobertson, .T.P;f Consul for Brazil, died suddenly oo Friday at tho age of 84 years. IIo dropped dead in Molesworth street oa his way home. The late Mr Eobertson founded tlie Garibaldi Club in Wellington, which is still a popnlar Tendezvous of Italian residents and friends. Assistance to the Italian community brought him a letter o± apprecidtion from the Italian Premier at that time. Shortly afterwards his services were recognised by j the late King Umberto, who conferred j on him the distinction of the Chevaliex i of the Order of the Crown of Italy, { with the approval of the Bt. Hon B. .1. Seddon, then Prime Minister of Xew Zealand. He contributed reguhu articles to foreign newspapers. He was a prominent Freemason. He lcavcs two sons', Messrs Roland and Cecii. and a daughter, Mrs Jack, of Nelson. /
